Main Responsibilities:

  • In this function, the future jobholder reports directly to the Head of Global Product and Application Development
  • Based on a broad understanding of the white biotech market, the future jobholder is responsible for CMO project pipeline development and sales execution for the fermentation site
  • Leading the whole project acquisition process from early customer inquiries to contract negotiation and final sales execution
  • Acting as one face to the customer during the whole project life cycle from initiation to closing of new business opportunities
  • Guiding a team of technical evaluation, R&T and manufacturing manager and other appropriate resources on individual project basis
  • Analysing new market areas, identifying new business opportunities and developing and executing appropriate marketing and business plans
  • The future jobholder identifies and manages cooperation with governmental or other public organizations and represents the company at conferences and trade shows

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Background in biology or biotechnology resp. chemistry or chemical engineering combined with business and marketing & sales education, ideally having an MBA
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in new business development or sales position preferably in the chemical or biotechnology industry
  • Strong sales execution track record
  • Highly developed project acquisition and contract negotiation skills from establishing 1st customer contacts / cold call until final contract execution
  • Ability to create new customer contact strategies & create and support sales campaigns
  • Creative, convincing, pro-active in building and maintaining strong and trustful customer relationships
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to obtain deep customer understanding to create win-win situation for the customers
  • Acts with high sense of urgency, strong in working autonomously and team collaboration skills
  • Ideally already some insights into the business principals of custom manufacturing organization (CMO)
  • Strong network into the biotechnology industry / community
  • Fluent English and German
  • Located in Basel, Willingness for traveling 30-40%
