Cells Assays Associate/Scientist

Our client is a pioneer in Drug Discovery and Development and one of the frontrunners in Personalised Healthcare. As the world`s largest R&D spender in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics domain, they work in a vast number of drug discovery & therapeutic areas and are highly recognized internationally. 

We are currently looking for a Cells Assays Associate/Scientist for a 6-month contract (maternity cover, extension has to be clarified but possible) based in Basel, Switzerland.

This is an on-site job, lab based.

The position is located in a department with the focus on Discovery of Small Molecule Research. The primary focus is screening, profiling and establishing SAR to identify and drive chemistry in small molecule projects. They collaborate closely with their therapeutic areas and functions to convert therapeutic hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.

We are offering an outstanding opportunity for a motivated and skilled lab-based Associate/Scientist to work with a highly engaged team of cellular assay scientists and automation experts using state-of-the-art technologies. You will be responsible for establishing, developing, optimizing and executing cellular assays for hit characterization, high-throughput screening and compound profiling.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the cellular assays function which plays a crucial role in the department’s role in generating novel small molecule starting points for drug discovery.
  • Shaping and evolving the role to ensure a smooth transition from project inception through assay development to the search for small molecule hits in high throughput screening.
  • Nurturing trustful relationships and effective collaboration with internal and external partners.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
  • Apprenticeship or a Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in biotech/ pharmaceutical industry, in a laboratory environment
  • Experience in cellular assay techniques (including cell culture, assay design in multiwell plates, optimization, and troubleshooting), the ability to analyze and interpret complex data, and to clearly present findings to colleagues and stakeholders
  • It is advantageous to have experience in basic pharmacology, design-of-experiment, automated liquid-handling
  • Driven by your scientific curiosity and excited about new approaches
  • Resourceful and flexible in problem-solving and in working collaboratively and inclusively with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Thrives in a dynamic, inclusive environment that gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development. You know how to prioritize and create clarity and focus
  • Fluent in English
