Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for a:
Construction Manager
for a contract position based in the Valais area, Switzerland – one year initial duration with extension for another year.
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the planning and delivery of high-stakes construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion. The ideal candidate will lead teams and manage logistics, working alongside EPCM partners to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all project phases: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Oversee service providers, suppliers, and workflows, ensuring seamless project execution;
- Manage works and coordinate with EPCM partners across mechanical, electrical, and ductwork disciplines;
- Lead external teams where necessary, maintaining site organization and compliance with standards;
- Conduct technical and commercial negotiations with suppliers as needed, in collaboration with Procurement team;
- Facilitate equipment logistics, ensuring all specifications and entry methods are pre-approved;
- Improve Construction and Health & Safety Plans with EPCM team;
- Ensure cost, schedule, quality, and safety targets are met on assigned projects;
- Conduct ongoing quality checks on materials and installation work, closing any issues identified with EPCM.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required;
- At least a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or relevant field;
- Around 5-10 years in construction management, with experience in large-scale industrial and pharmaceutical projects;
- Skilled in cleanroom construction (GMP grade C, ISO 8);
- Proficiency with NavisWorks BIM software and scheduling tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project;
- Knowledge of biopharmaceutical utility requirements.
- B2-level fluency in German and English.
