Laboratory Scientist Bioanalytics
Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for a Laboratory Scientist Bioanalytics for a 12-month contract (with possibility for extension) based in the Basel area, Switzerland.
1 day/week home office possible.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide support in the area of analytical potency testing and method implementation within DPS Bio-Analytics to support the customer’s needs.
- Experienced Analyst role for executing method establishment & pre-validation, method development, method trouble-shooting, non-GMP DP batch release, formulation and stability testing. This includes documentation according to GDocP standards and following applicable EHS regulations.
- Responsible to independently execute potency assays for method establishment or sample testing using binding assays (e.g. ELISA or SPR) or functional assays (e.g. CBA or Enzyme assays) according to existing draft method SOPs, including buffer preparation and performance of data analysis as required.
- Responsible to document assay performance under ISO following Good Documentation Practices (GDocP) and right first time, and flag relevant observations to the supervisor for further assessment.
- Accountable to review and approve basic operational tasks performed and documented by peer analysts, e.g. buffer preparation, calibration of pH meters or balances.
- Responsible to draft general documents, e.g. method SOP, pre-validation protocol, or establishment report.
- Contributes in investigations and troubleshooting for methods and lab equipment issues by proactively driving the investigation and proposing mitigation measures.
- Responsible to keep the personal laboratory space clean and tidy. This includes adherence to 6S principles as well as to GDP standards for audit readiness.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
- Apprenticeship, BSc, MSc or equivalent experience in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field
- Advantageous to have experience in software used for laboratory operations, e.g. Electronic Lab Notebook, LIMS, SoftMax Pro, PLA, DMS
- Working experience in a research/technical role in the pharmaceutical or biochemical industry preferably 5 years cumulative
- Experience in reporting, interpretation and documentation of scientific results
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently in a team
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English
