Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Microbiologist for a 6-month contract position at our client's office in Bern. The microbiological quality control is essential to ensure the safety of pharmaceutical products for patients. As a Senior Microbiologist in microbiological quality control, you will be responsible for providing microbiological expertise in task forces investigating deviations or other microbiological issues. Additionally, you will optimize analytical methods as needed in the field of total microbial count determination in pharmaceutical product testing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support on major microbiological topics, such as implementing or improving methods
  • Participate in change, CAPA, and deviation management
  • Assist with the installation and (re)qualification of equipment as needed
  • Transfer microbiological expertise to laboratory personnel as a tutor
  • Support in handling unexpected results and troubleshooting in the laboratory
  • Conduct reviews of GMP-compliant documentation

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s or PhD in Microbiology or a closely related field
  • GMP experience
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Proactive “can-do” attitude
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Understanding of Good Practice (GxP) and fundamentals of classical microbiology
  • Experience in an analytical laboratory is an advantage
  • Precise, conscientious, and detail-oriented working style
