Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for a:
Senior Buyer
on a 6-month contract, based in Basel, Switzerland.
In this role, you will collaborate with Global Category Managers to drive value, innovation, and continuous improvement in procurement processes.
Main Responsibilities:
- Partner with Global Category Managers to develop and implement category and sourcing strategies tailored to site-specific needs.
- Support the execution of sourcing initiatives for delegated spend.
- Provide expertise in tendering, negotiation tactics, contracting, and procurement systems.
- Drive savings initiatives by identifying opportunities, developing pipelines, and realizing cost reductions.
- Support the roll-out of procurement policies, procedures, and tools to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Identify and engage with site stakeholders to understand and align procurement activities with business needs.
- Ensure supply continuity and availability of necessary materials to maintain operations.
- Maintain and strengthen professional partnerships with suppliers.
- Conduct supply risk assessments.
- Develop and implement mitigation solutions for identified business risks.
- Support the roll-out of procurement tools, processes, and systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, E-Auctions).
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of strategic procurement experience, with a focus on tendering, negotiation, and contract management.
- Einkaufsfachfrau / Einkaufsfachmann certification or CIPS certification is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer service mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in SAP, Ariba, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in third-party spend management and e-procurement systems.
- Knowledge of category management, supplier management, and contract management.
