Electrical Design Engineer (German-speaking)
Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for two German-speaking Electrical Design Engineers for a 12-month contract based in Valais area, Switzerland.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the design, development, and optimization of electrical systems across the client’s highly automated manufacturing facilities. Working within multidisciplinary project teams, you will ensure electrical infrastructure is safe, reliable, energy-efficient, and compliant with all applicable industry regulations and company standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design, specify, and implement low-voltage electrical systems for industrial and process manufacturing environments.
- Lead and support projects involving drive technology, variable frequency drives (VFDs), frequency converters, switchgear, UPS systems, electrical heating systems, and pipe trace heating.
- Develop engineering concepts, technical specifications, electrical schematics, and design documentation for new installations and plant upgrades.
- Provide technical expertise throughout project lifecycles, from feasibility studies and detailed design to commissioning and handover.
- Contribute to strategic decisions regarding electrical infrastructure, modernization, and asset lifecycle management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including NIN, ATEX, VKF, and electrical safety requirements.
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize plant reliability, operational efficiency, and system performance.
- Identify and implement energy optimization measures that improve sustainability and reduce operating costs.
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, automation, and project teams to deliver safe, effective, and innovative engineering solutions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSc/MSc/HF) or qualification as a Federally Certified Electrical Installer, Master Electrician, or Electrical Project Manager (FA).
- Proven experience in the design, planning, and implementation of electrical systems within industrial manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control, drive systems, switchgear, UPS systems, and industrial electrical installations.
- Experience managing projects from concept development and engineering design through commissioning and operational support.
- Familiarity with highly regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemicals, or process manufacturing is advantageous.
- Fluent German language skills and English proficiency are required
