We are looking for a Biospecimen Specialist for a 12 months contract (with high possibility for extension) to be based in Zug area, Switzerland.

Biospecimen Specialist – Employee Specimen Donation Program Coordinator – 7097

Main Responsibilities:

  • Employee Specimen Donation Program Coordination: Autonomously lead and execute the Employee Specimen Donation Program to ensure reliable and compliant sample sourcing. Develop and implement effective internal communication and advertisement campaigns to promote the donation program among employees.
  • Biorepository & Sample Management: Manage and perform biological material processing, registration, shipment, returns, verification activities, retrievals, and inventory searches within a validated environment. Create sample collection kits and ensure accurate and compliant handling of biological specimens throughout the sample lifecycle.
  • Project Management & Customer Support: Assume accountability for end-to-end project management and biorepository activities to fulfill customer specimen requests. Coordinate timelines, monitor deliverables, and ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of biospecimen-related activities.
  • Import/Export Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with relevant permitting agencies, import/export compliance teams, and local Safety and Biorepository Teams to ensure compliance with applicable permit requirements. Effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders to establish timelines and meet defined project goals.
  • Data Management & LIMS Operations: Conduct data management activities, including data review, import, quality and consistency checks, data searches, resolution of discrepancies, and data export while working within validated Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Assume accountability for accurate and consistent data entry into validated databases, according to established formats and procedures.
  • Documentation & Regulatory Maintenance: Maintain sample collection and study information according to applicable processes and procedures. Ensure continuous process compliance, including the accurate collection and maintenance of all required legal, regulatory, and ethics documentation according to established Biospecimen Acquisition and Management (BAM) procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Life science Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 1–3 years relevant experience in sample acquisition, data management, biobanking OR Life science Master’s degree or equivalent, some experience in sample management, biobanking or related area
  • Experience in handling biological specimens and willingness to work with potentially infectious biological material
  • Knowledge of ethics and compliance requirements related to human specimens, including informed consent, IRB protocols, and data privacy regulations (e.g., HRA, GDPR)
  • Experience with IT skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and LIMS or other validated systems
  • Good level of English (min. B2) while German is nice to have
  • Ability to follow detailed standard procedures and a strong understanding of biospecimen traceability
  • Highly motivated, organized, and solution-driven team player with meticulous attention to detail, committed to ensuring the highest quality, accuracy, and timeliness of biospecimen deliverables
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively manage diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent data handling capabilities
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize multiple tasks, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
