EI&C Instrumentation Engineer (7116)

Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for a EI&C Instrumentation Engineer, based in Visp, Switzerland for a 1 year contract, with the possibility of extension.

Main responsibilities:

• Design and specify instrumentation and field devices for process, utility, and infrastructure systems in accordance with company standards, GMP requirements, and applicable industry standards.
• Select and define measurement technologies for parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical measurements, and control valves.
• Create, maintain, and update instrumentation documentation, including: instrument data sheets, loop diagrams, instrument indexes, calibration and maintenance data.
• Maintain and manage instrument-related engineering data within COMOS.
• Support the integration of field devices into DCS, PLC, SIS, and process control systems.
• Coordinate and supervise installation activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
• Plan, execute, document, and troubleshoot loop checks, functional tests, and commissioning activities.
• Support startup and handover activities for new and modified systems.
• Execute GMP qualification activities using UBIK and Kneat, including support for IQ/OQ documentation and testing.
• Ensure all engineering activities are performed in accordance with change control, data integrity, and validation requirements.
• Investigate technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions related to instrumentation systems.
• Collaborate closely with Automation, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Validation, Quality, and Project teams.

Required Qualifications:

• Swiss or EU citizen with right to work for Switzerland
• Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in instrumentation engineering within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation design, field devices, calibration principles, and process measurements.
• Experience with engineering documentation and data management in COMOS.
• Knowledge of process control systems and field device integration.
• Experience with commissioning, loop testing, and startup support.
• Familiarity with GMP environments and GxP documentation requirements.
• Experience with qualification tools such as UBIK and Kneat is advantageous.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in English and/or German is required.
