Our client is a leading global player in the Pharmaceutical industry with global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.
They are looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to join the Process Development team. In this hands-on role, you will play a critical part in advancing innovative chemical processes and supporting the supply of drug substances through high-quality experimental work, data generation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams.
Laboratory Technician – Process Development & Small-Scale Manufacturing
6 months contract
Your tasks:
- Execute laboratory experiments that directly influence chemical process development and manufacturing strategies
- Generate, analyse, and communicate experimental data to support project teams and manufacturing sites
- Perform chemical synthesis experiments safely and efficiently, in close collaboration with Process Chemists
- Support process optimization, troubleshooting, scale-up, and technology transfer activities
- Contribute to innovative platforms such as Biocatalysis, Flow Chemistry, PAT, and Sustainable Process Development
- Participate in small-scale GMP/non-GMP batch manufacturing, including advanced modalities like ADCs
- Maintain accurate, compliant documentation (eLN) per Good Documentation Practices
- Ensure full compliance with HSE, GxP, and regulatory requirements, keeping lab equipment safe and operational
- Manage laboratory inventories and proactively flag safety or operational risks
- Collaborate cross-functionally and mentor junior colleagues, apprentices, and trainees as experience grows
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
- Completed apprenticeship as a Laboratory Technician (Laborant/in) or equivalent scientific technical qualification
- Practical experience in synthetic chemistry with a passion for laboratory work
- Strong hands-on experience with chemical synthesis and process development activities
- Experience supporting or participating in the scale-up of chemical reactions and processes
- Excellent understanding of laboratory safety standards and HSE requirements
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Experience working with standard synthesis and analytical equipment
- German and English: working proficiency
