Operational Buyer (7024)

Our client, a global leader in the Life Sciences industry, is looking for an Operational Buyer to join their Central Supply Chain Team in Visp, supporting Small Molecules Operations.

This is a 5-month contract with the possibility of extension. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliable execution of procurement and supply chain activities by managing supplier performance, supporting operational purchasing processes, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to maintain business continuity and efficient Material Requirements Planning (MRP).

Main Responsibilities

• Monitor supplier performance and provide feedback to Strategic Buyers and Category Managers.
• Drive continuous improvement of supplier performance in terms of delivery, quality, and compliance.
• Manage supplier escalations related to delivery delays, expediting activities, MRP changes, purchase order confirmations, pricing discrepancies, and shipping issues.
• Maintain accurate material and vendor master data in SAP to support reliable MRP execution.
• Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and implementation of supplier changes.
• Collaborate closely with Supply Chain teams in Visp to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
• Manage vendor returns (RMAs), including replacements and cost recovery.
• Resolve Accounts Payable (AP) invoice discrepancies with suppliers.
• Conduct regular open purchase order review meetings with suppliers.
• Support the onboarding and approval of new raw materials and suppliers.
• Participate in RFx activities and competitive sourcing processes.
• Support Strategic Buyers with negotiations for low-value contracts.
• Assist Central Category Managers and Site Strategic Buyers with procurement initiatives.
• Perform additional procurement-related activities as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience in an Operational Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or Purchasing role.
• Significant experience purchasing raw materials.
• Strong knowledge of SAP or a comparable ERP system.
• Experience managing supplier performance and driving improvement initiatives.
• Previous experience supporting supplier contract negotiations.
• Strong commercial awareness and analytical mindset.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and fast-paced environment.
• English and German are mandatory
